Amy Herzog, Knit to Flatter

04/06/2013 7:00 pm
Knit to Flatter is a guide for the hand knitter who wants to produce wardrobe staples. It’s a way to understand how sweaters change the appearance of your underlying shape. And it’s a way to use that understanding to (since we’re creating these things out of sticks & string) get sweaters that not only give the right visual impression, but fit us perfectly.

It’s chock full of beautiful sweaters designed for all different body shapes, and crammed with modification ideas if something isn’t quite right for you. There’s an entire chapter on determining your own shape and taking proper measurements, and another on the math of modifications. It’s the very first step toward creating sweaters that work for you.

Amy Herzog is the creator of the Fit to Flatter online series (amyherzogdesigns.com), and teaches courses in yarn shops across the country. Her pattern designs have been published online at Twist Collective, in Knitscene magazine, and in the book Knitting It Old School. She lives in Somerville, Massachusetts.
