"Boston police detective D. D. Warren returns in another gripping thriller...In addition to telling a compelling story, Gardner also explores an issue that is rarely discussed in fiction: children who are psychotic...Gardner has never shied away from creepy, psychologically twisted stories, but this may be her most unsettling. The notion of murderous children may be off-putting enough to make some readers avoid the book. That would be a mistake: Gardner never sensationalizes her story, and the book ends with a resolution that is creatively and emotionally appropriate. An excellent novel."

To research Live to Tell, which is set in suburban Boston, Gardner spent time with the staff at the Cambridge (MA) Health Alliance, a locked-down, acute care psychiatric ward for children. It was here that she learned of the overwhelmingly difficult but amazing work done by medical workers who sacrifice so much to give these kids some semblance of normalcy.

A portion of the proceeds for this event will be donated to the Cambridge Health Alliance.
