Reflectionist artist JD Miller has been perfecting his style of 3-dimensional oil painting for 25 years, from his first painting translations of classical works by artists like Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, and Paul Gaugin, to the creation and evolution of his own style. Miller imbues his prismatic work with a spirit of positive energy, love, peace, and joy as a fulfillment of his Reflectionist philosophy. Within Reflectionism, Miller calls upon the universal vibrations of light and sound to flow through him to allow for the molding of oil paint, a unique process that distinguishes him from other artists. Miller creates impactful, strong, and enlivening canvases that take their viewer on an existential journey. The title of this book, Reflections from Dragon Street, relates to Miller’s powerful collection of work created since moving into the Samuel Lynne Galleries’ studio located at 1105 Dragon Street in Dallas. Included are many of Miller’s popular series, which date from 2008 to the present. This comprehensive survey of Miller’s work has been produced in the spirit of Reflectionism and shows the progression of his prolific career.
About the Author
JD Miller began his painting career 25 years ago with a vision: to pursue the law of attraction through his art. And in this pursuit, Reflectionism was born. Miller began using oil paints and sensorial experiences to create the 3-dimensional oil technique he continues to work in today. With this 3-dimensional oil, Miller conveys his sense of freedom, his joy in the miracle of creation, and the synchronicity of the universe. Miller’s passion for painting and his process of like energy attracting like energy translates the law of vibration into the energy emanating from his work.
"When I think of JD, the first thing that pops into my head is a supernova, not because he is an exploding star but because the chance of observing one with the naked eye is roughly once in a lifetime." —Tyler Shields
