The Amazing Maurice is a delightful, kid-friendly introduction into the universe of Discworld, Terry Pratchett's celebrated comic fantasy series. Great for kids (and adults) who love magic, intelligent animals, and thinking about death — I know you're out there, you little goth stars — MAURICE is at turns exciting, hysterical, chilling, and almost more sincere than our feline protagonist can stand.

This incredibly well researched graphic biography tells the story of my personal favorite painter, Artemisia Gentileschi. Siciliano doesn't shy away from the dark and often violent truth of Gentileschi's life as she went from her father's apprentice to a famous Renaissance painter in her own right. This book captures the humanity of such a great figure, while still giving us a view of the politics and hardships of the time --and an art lesson to round out the whole thing. Plus, just look at this cover, who wouldn't want to add such a beautiful book to their collection? CW: Sexual Assault

I have been a big fan of these tiny vampires since they were just three panel comics floating around the internet, so it came as no surprise that I loved this book. It's both a funny and charming story about witches and curses and magical quests, as well as a tale about friendship and standing up for yourself. 10/10 I'd definitely let these precocious vampires drink some blood (although maybe not mine).
