Our imaginations are limitless, as shown when one child's drawings lift off the page and transport him to a whole new world in this gorgeous black-and-white, wordless picture book.

Bad Guys is riotously funny. The first time I read Bad Guys, I seriously couldn’t stop laughing. The “heroes” are animals typically viewed as the villains: Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Shark, and Mr. Piranha. Sure, they may be accused of eating people – they may even eat each other (I’m looking at you, Snake!) – but it doesn’t mean they’re bad guys. OK, but is it so wrong if the bad guys just wanna be good? Lucky for us, at least three more books are on the way.

On a snowy day, Charles and his toboggan set out to find a wish tree. Their quest is more about the journey than the outcome as they help friends along the way and enjoy the beautiful forest. But as night falls, it looks uncertain as to if they'll ever find what they seek. The lovely text of this luminous book begs to be read aloud over and over again; there's a small bit of magic on every page.

An endearing winner from a much loved local author. Witty but comforting, with a wry and humorous cast of characters, this is a perfect antidote to today's stress.

Whether it's saving $600 a year buying store brand groceries or $85 a year using hand towels instead of paper towels, buying David Pogue's new book might be one of the best investments you can make.

Dunbar tells the compelling story of Ona Judge, a dower slave of George and Martha Washington, who courageously escapes Philadelphia to Portsmouth, NH near the end of Washington’s second term as President, successfully evading Washington’s continued attempts to recapture her. A fascinating portrait of Washington as slaveholder and the lives of those he enslaved.

A collection of short stories, exploring cataclysm in its many forms, from the personal to the global--and often both together. The title piece of the book is a literal set of 100 tiny stories, each touching on apocalyptic themes in its own way. A playful, absorbing series of experiments; if Kelly Link and Lydia Davis wrote a book together, the result might be something like this.

This a powerful career spanning collection by a poet who was tortured and jailed for eight years for his political activism in Morocco. The poetry is dark and unsettling but also beautiful and uplifting. Laabi’s voice is one of proud, even exuberant defiance. This collection is a punch to jaw, but the kind of punch that lets you know you’re ready to fight.
