What do a bear, a cabin, and a bean field have in common? They all help tell the tale of Henry David Thoreau's infamous decision to live at Walden Pond. A wonderful explanation of the transcendentalist's classic novel, Walden, DB Johnson's Henry Builds a Cabin walks us through (with the help of some famous literary bear friends) what it means to make your own home built on care, simplicity and love.

After getting kicked off the basketball team for fighting, Mara must find a new sport to prove to her coach that she can be a team player. When she tries out for the (previously all-boys) football team, she begins to understand that being a girl can be so much more than being shoved into a dress and heels by her overbearing mother. In this graphic novel, three seemingly unrelated storylines interweave in surprising ways. Not only are the pictures beautiful, there's so many unspoken nuances within each character interaction. I loved this story about an American-Chinese boy, Danny, and how he straddles his Chinese and American culture. Things only seem to get worse when his cousin from China visits. But, his cousin just might be the key for Danny to learn about himself, his family, and his culture. You won't regret reading it!

Magical adventure and romance! If the deaf witch and genderqueer werewolf in love aren't enough, come here for the cute gay grandmas and the Sukkot/Mid-Autumn Festival fusion celebration. Not to mention the gorgeous, expressive art and amazing storytelling. I wish I’d had this comic when I was a kid.

I have been a big fan of these tiny vampires since they were just three panel comics floating around the internet, so it came as no surprise that I loved this book. It's both a funny and charming story about witches and curses and magical quests, as well as a tale about friendship and standing up for yourself. 10/10 I'd definitely let these precocious vampires drink some blood (although maybe not mine).
