This is a delightful story about how a Korean American middle-grader, Chloe, feels about growing up in a town where no one else looks like her except for her family. It's hard to give a true and wonderful review w/out spoilage but what feels like a contemporary story at the beginning does take a turn into another genre that is quite exciting.

This is a book that I always come back to every year. This story never leaves me. The characters are so familiar to me that I often wonder how they’re doing and what city they are in now. The way Erin Morgenstern writes is like nothing I’ve ever experienced and every time I read The Night Circus, I discover a new key detail that I missed before. To put it simply, this books is magic.

When Waka's mom suspects that she may be losing touch with her Japanese heritage and language, Waka is sent to live with her grandmother in Tokyo for a few months. This is a delightful memoir about trying to fit into the culture you were born into and the culture you've been brought up in, and finding harmony between the two.
