Learn about beekeeping and honey production from a silly old bear - without the falling from trees part! Cute and educational; the warm color tones are perfect for evoking thoughts of sunshine and sweet honey.

I often find it hard to sink into a historical fiction MG title, but this one absolutely sucked me in. The Chernobyl disaster isn't something widely addressed in kids' lit, and this title handles it so well. The interwoven political and social dynamics are heartbreaking, but the friendship the two main characters develop despite everything is so lovely. (This is also now a Sydney Taylor Book Award Silver Medalist)

This book says so much with absolutely no words. What the artist manages to convey with each scene and all of its little details is delightful. A cute, happy story to brighten your day.

Such an inventive spin on the magical school narrative. The fantastical world building is superb, yet is not used as an escape from real-world problems. Amari is an awesome hero with a heart of gold and a will of iron. I truly cannot wait for the next book in the series. There's so much potential!

Oona is a clever, adventurous, beautiful addition to mermaid lore. A treasure in and of herself!

An absolutely stunning work of artistry. It's so enchanting and lovely; even as an adult I find it soothing to flip through and admire all of the details.

After we lost my dad, this was the first book I could actually read and finish. The main character resonated with me and felt so human. Though the subject matter is difficult (and somewhat taboo), the author approaches it with a tender hand and a courageous heart. I owe her a debt of gratitude for helping to anchor me when all I could do was float. CW: Suicide, mental illness

I found this to be the book equivalent of being wrapped in a warm blanket. Wintery woods, cozy cottages, warm beverages, loving friends and family. Sprinkled with fairy tales that may be more than they seem. A great, heartwarming adventure featuring a strong, brave girl on a quest to find herself.
