Absolutely adorable characters brought to life with rich, earthy illustrations. Paulsen has created such a sweet, unique story that will resonate with so many anxious readers. A stroll on an early autumn day in book form.

Unfortunately, I'm pretty grumpy by this point in the summer, so I glom onto anything that gives me a smile. This coloring book does just that. Its odd siren call hits me like my staff pick How to Draw Cute Beasts with its cuteness. As it happens, it's not just llamas in here. There's a whole slew of adorable animals in absurd situations. Grab some shiny gel pens or colored pencils and relax with a million llamas.

A gorgeous tale of courage with a dash of suspense and a beautiful message. I truly want to fall into the pages of this book.

Between her imagination, artistic skills, and storytelling capabilities, Shing Yin Khor herself is a legend. The Legend of Auntie Po is beauty; an inspiring tapestry of myth, love, and fortitude in the face of adversity and discrimination.

Beautiful, fierce, mythological, and heart-wrenching. A nice, big starting volume so you can just keep reading and reading.

A wonderfully fantastical summer ghost story by a legend. The illustrations are just lovely and really accentuate the story. Perfect!

There's so much to learn about sleep! In addition to understanding why sleep is important (and tricks for sleeping easier), this book also talks about the funny, scary, weird myths and histories across time and cultures. Bonus? You get to find out who sleeps in a snot-bubble sleeping bag.

I love science comics! They help make complex topics accessible in a fun, colorful way. I have a particular soft spot for The Brain volume for personal reasons. The brain is still a mystery it seems, but that doesn't mean there's not plenty to learn! A knowledge of brain functionality helps to develop understanding for how people experience the world differently.

This is the type of story that had I read as a child, I would still remember vividly. A chilling ghost story yes, but more chilling is the racial violence laid bare. A truly powerful book with such depth for the age range. Engaging and unafraid to present subjects that need to be discussed. We need more books like this!
