How does a children’s book get made? What kinds of steps go into the creation, execution, and eventual sale of a children’s book? Could I get a job in this field? Come listen to our Teen Outreach Panel, sponsored by the Children’s Book Council Diversity Committee, composed of people who work on children’s books from art to editorial, design to marketing, reviewing and bookselling, as they talk about their jobs and answer questions. We believe the best books are made when they are influenced and inspired by people from all different backgrounds and experiences, and the panel seeks to reach teens all over Boston to encourage them to consider children’s publishing as a possible career path. Panelists include Julie Blivens (Charlesbridge), Nicole Tadgell, (Real Sisters Pretend), Melanie Cordova (Candlewick), Jason Lin (Candlewick), Stacy Collins (Kirkus, Horn Book, and Simmons), and our own Josh Cook.
