Fierce Reads Thrills & Chills Author Tour: Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé, Jamison Shea, Tomi Oyemakinde, and Kalyn Josephson

Porter Square Books is thrilled to welcome the Fierce Reads author group, featuring Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé, Jamison Shea, Tomi Oyemakinde, and Kalyn Josephson, for an event in partnership with GrubStreet's Young Adult Writers Program (YAWP)! These accomplished YA horror authors will stop at Porter Square Books (25 White St. Cambridge, MA 02140) for their Thrills and Chills tour on Tuesday, September 26 at 7pm. Following a panel moderated by teen YAWP fellows Parker-Vincent Alva & Aphrodite Anais Allen, the authors will answer audience questions and sign copies of their books, all of which you can browse below.

Plus, we'll have exclusive items to give away to the first 20 attendees, including lights and advanced readers copies of upcoming titles from Macmillan!

RSVP below to let us know you're coming and to receive event updates!

Faridah Àbíké-Íyímídé is the instant New York Times, International bestselling, & Award-winning author of Ace of Spades. She is an avid tea drinker, a collector of strange mugs, and a recent graduate from a university in the Scottish Highlands where she received a BA in English Literature. She is currently pursuing an MA in Shakespeare Studies from Kings College London. When she isn’t spinning dark tales, Faridah can be found examining the deeper meanings in Disney channel original movies.

Jamison Shea was once a flautist, violist, anthropologist, linguist, choreographer, dancer, professional fire alarm puller, digital producer, and account executive—but they've always been a writer. Born in Buffalo, NY and now surrounded by darkness and gloom in Finland, when Jamison isn't writing horror, they're drinking milk tea and searching for long-forgotten gods in eerie places.

Tomi Oyemakinde grew up in London, before being uprooted at the age of 6 to head across the North Sea to the Netherlands. He is committed to crafting stories centered on Black protagonists thriving across genres, audiences & worlds. When Tomi is not busy writing, he can be found daydreaming about his future dog (namely a Rottweiler named Pan) and geeking out over all things anime. The Changing Man is his debut novel.

Kalyn Josephson works as a Technical Writer in the tech industry, which leaves room for too many bad puns about technically being a writer. She grew up in San Luis Obispo, California, and graduated from Santa Clara University with degrees in Biology and Creative Writing. Currently, she lives in the Bay Area with two black cats (who are more like a tiny dragon and an ever tinier owl). She is the author of the Storm Crow duology.

About the moderators

Tiana “Aphrodite” Allen uses she/they pronouns, and she likes writing poetry, short stories, and fantasy. Her favorite hobby is doing her friends’ nails and her favorite fruit is mango!

Parker-Vincent Alva is a student and writer from Boston, MA. He enjoys writing mostly poetry (but prose too!) that contains romantic and horror themes. When he’s not at his desk, you can find him destroying his kitchen trying to bake.
