If you've listened to the podcast and want to see our hapless heroes' hijinks in a new format, this is for you! If you've never heard of The Adventure Zone but love beautifully-drawn graphic novels and lighthearted high fantasy adventures, this is definitely for you! I don't think I've ever found another story that made me feel this purely, laughingly happy the whole time I was reading it.

Full disclosure, I was VERY into creepy and unsettling things as a child and the tragedy of the Donner party fell right into my wheelhouse. As an adult, this book was a fun mix of history and fiction all mixed with a deep feeling of disquiet that weighs on you throughout the entire book. It might not be the traditional Christmas ghost story, but it's still the perfect spooky winter read.

Elena Abbott must contend with racism, sexism, and occult horror while she chases down a serial killer the police aren't pursuing. Only she can stop the murderer, but that's provided she survives. Beautiful art, superb storytelling, and fantastic characters. I had no idea how much I needed this comic until I picked it up.

Realm of Ruins is as timely as it is timeless; though peppered with delightful hints of familiar fantasy classics, the world-building is utterly fresh and features the patriarchy-smashing heroine we all need. West's writing sings and makes for a perfect winter read. Check out the companion novel as well, out now in paperback!

Two storylines: During the McCarthy era, Janet balances her love for Marie with the need for secrecy about her sexuality. In 2018, Abbie discovers 1950s lesbian pulp novels and investigates a mysterious author. Their stories--linked by scenes from one of the pulp novels--end up intersecting.

The perfect slightly-spooky autumn read, this is the story of Makepeace, a teenage girl with the ability to see, communicate, and bodily cohabit with ghosts. The plot deftly interweaves the supernatural with the events of the English Civil War, and the magic system feels creative and original. I loved Makepeace and all her ghosts.
