From the color scheme to the font, from the illustrations to the verse, this graphic novel adaptation of Alexander’s novel is straight-up magic. The different elements captures the kinetic frenzy of basketball (and the ups/downs of the protagonist’s life) so well, making for a dynamic read!

This is not a book about boxing, although if you are not a boxing enthusiast you will certainly learn a lot about the sport. It is much more a book about one of the most outsized personalities of the 60s,about race relations and politics and Vietnam, and about how Cassius Clay went from being a poor kid in Louisville to "The Champ" and "The Greatest". A very compelling read, and worth all the pages.

I don't particularly care about horses or horse racing, but this book had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. Every race had my heart pounding as I turned the pages, and there were definitely moments when I teared up. A brilliant tale of the underdog from the author of UNBROKEN .

Unlike anything you've ever read, THROWN is a philosophical exploration of what it means to be alive through the lens of Mixed Martial Arts. The work of an intense intellect, THROWN uses the lives of two fighters to struggle with the biggest questions of experience, very directly fighting for meaning and significance in our chaotic and confusing world. A major work by a major mind.
