I am very much Not a Cook, but this book inspired me to try. Maisonet is like a personal cooking coach, and I love how she redefines authenticity as she knows it.

I was content to be five cookbooks past the point where I swore to not buy anymore cookbooks.....but then I found a really good recipe for vanilla cream scones and well, here we are.
Ahhhh, fall! The time of year where I become a goblin who thinks of nothing but soup. You too can sink into cozy mode with this cookbook that trumpets the power of soup. Sure to warm your heart and tummy
The answer to the eternal question: what am I going to make for dinner tonight? Unfussy recipes that are interesting and packed with flavor, but don't require a special trip to the store. There's even an index of "recipes by cravings, mood & realities." Everything I've tried has been delicious - I bought a copy for myself and my mom for Mother's Day.

Full disclosure, I've never played Dungeons and Dragons, but that cinnamon bread was delicious, and my dad said the oatmeal cookies were better than Toll House cookies.

Discover (or Rediscover) the simple roots of vegetarian cooking with the Moosewood Cookbook. What better way to slow down, gather back together, and eat more plants? Note: I know if you're my age and you live in Cambridge, you probably already own this classic ;) But wouldn't it be great to share it with the next generation?

I read this cookbook cover-to-cover! From profiles of USA-based seaweed harvesters and rice farmers that will inspire culinary-based travel to explanations of the history of dishes, to recipes and mouth-watering photos, this cookbook is enthralling and accessible. Next up: cooking my way through it!

The colourful recipes and history of Korean food culture in this comic book makes cooking really fun!

Chaat is one of my favorite foods and the number of combinations in this book is astounding. The pictures are gorgeous! If you're looking for a sweet, salty, tangy, spicy snack that will blow your mind and your tastebuds, buy this book. It's a perfect door into the culinary magic that is Indian food (beyond Chicken Tikka Masala, which was invented by the British...).

Recently I've been baking a treat for the week every Saturday morning (a practice I highly recommend). I'm not a particularly skilled baker, but every cake I've tried from this book has been easy and turned out perfectly, no stand mixer required. Arefi offers flavor variations for every recipe so the options are pretty endless - I can't wait to start baking with farmer's market produce in the spring and summer. Favorites so far are the Black- and Blueberry Ricotta Cake (p 36 - I used frozen berries and added some raspberries as well), and Almond Butter Banana Cake (p 87 - better than the best banana bread you've ever had).
